👋 Welcome & farewell

Greet new members when they join, and say goodbye when someone leaves. Welcome and farewell are set up separately, in the same way.

Set it up

Go to Members → Welcome & farewell in the dashboard and open the Welcome or Farewell tab:

1. Turn the messages on and pick the channel they're posted in.
2. Choose a style: Embed or Image card.
3. Save, then try it in your server with /testgreeting welcome (or farewell). You see the real message, with you as the member, and nobody is pinged.

Welcome messages can also ping the new member. The mention is sent next to the embed, because Discord doesn't notify mentions inside embeds. Bots joining or leaving aren't greeted.

Embed

The same embed builder as reaction roles, with every part open on every plan: author, title and color, description, fields, image, thumbnail, footer and timestamp, with a live preview. For the big image you can paste a link or attach a file (PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, up to 4 MB). Animated GIFs keep moving.

Image card (Premium)

A picture Vaqun draws for each member: their avatar in a ring of your two colors, a title and a subtitle, over a background. Pick one of the gradient backgrounds or upload your own, then crop it right in the dashboard. You can also add a message that's posted with the card.

If your server's Premium ends, the embed is sent instead. Your card settings are kept for when it comes back.

These work in every text, in both styles:

In image links you can also use {avatar} (the member's avatar) and {server_icon}. For example, put {avatar} as the thumbnail.

FAQ

Nothing is posted when someone joins. Check that the messages are on, that a channel is picked, and that Vaqun can send messages and embeds there (and attach files, for images and cards).

Can I see the card before a real member joins? Yes: run /testgreeting (you need Manage Server).
