🛡️ AutoMod

Block harmful messages before anyone sees them. Vaqun sets up Discord's own AutoMod for you, so the rules keep working even if Vaqun is offline, and you'll also find them in Server Settings → AutoMod in Discord.

Set it up

1. Go to the AutoMod section of your server's settings. It has three parts.
2. Preset filters: turn on Discord's word lists for Profanity, Sexual content and Slurs.
3. Spam and mentions: block messages Discord identifies as spam, and set a limit on mentions per message (1 to 50), which also stops mention raids.
4. Keyword rules: create your own rules, each with a list of words or phrases to block.

Everything saves straight to Discord. You can also manage rules with the /automod command.

Good to know

• Vaqun needs the Manage Server permission to create and change AutoMod rules.
• A keyword like free nitro blocks that phrase; steam gift* blocks anything starting with it. Discord's own rules for wildcards apply.
• Members with Administrator or Manage Server, and roles or channels you exempt in Discord, aren't blocked.

FAQ

A message got through that should have been blocked. Check that the rule is on (the badge on the rule), and remember that exempt members and channels are never checked.

I changed a rule in Discord directly. Does Vaqun notice? Yes. The dashboard reads the rules from Discord every time, so it always shows what's really there.

Can I restrict a channel to images only? That's not something AutoMod can do. Use Media channels instead, under Channels.
