📜 Server logs

Keep a record of what happens in your server, posted to channels you choose: deleted and edited messages, joins and leaves, bans and kicks, role and channel changes, voice activity and much more. About 70 kinds of events, in 14 categories.

Set it up

1. Go to Logs → Server logs.
2. Turn on Server logs and pick a general log channel. Everything logs there unless you say otherwise.
3. Open a category (Messages, Members, Moderation…) to see its events. Each category and each event has its own switch.
4. Optionally, give a category its own channel (for example, send all Messages events to #message-logs).
5. Click Save.

Permissions Vaqun needs

• View Audit Log: without it, Vaqun can't tell who did something, and the events that depend on it can't be logged. The dashboard marks them.
• Send Messages and Embed Links in the log channels.
• Manage Server, only for "which invite someone used".

What Discord does and doesn't say

Some things simply aren't available to any bot, so the logs say so instead of guessing:

• Who deleted a message: Discord only records it when a moderator deletes someone else's message. Otherwise the log says it wasn't recorded (usually it was the author).
• Deleted message content: only for messages Vaqun had seen recently. Older ones show as unknown.
• Kick or leave: Vaqun checks the audit log, so kicks and bans are logged under Moderation, not as leaves.
• Which invite was used: not possible for the vanity URL or used-up one-time invites.

FAQ

Does Vaqun keep a copy of the logs? No. Log entries only go to your Discord channels.

Bulk deletes flood the log? No: a bulk delete, or a /purge, is one entry, with the deleted messages attached as a text file.

Vaqun's own actions show as anonymous? They show as Vaqun, and for moderation done through Vaqun's commands, as "Vaqun, for @moderator".
